The Advanced Authentic Facilitator

If you have already completed some basic facilitation skills programs then you may be ready for the next step. Once you have learnt and mastered some fundamental group facilitation techniques it may be time to deepen your learnings and your effectiveness as a facilitator.

In this one day program we will look at the times as a facilitator when you have become stuck, stressed or momentarily lack resources. By looking more deeply into these critical incidents we will strengthen your ability to effectively facilitate meetings of all kinds. You will be supported to investigate your own assumptions that have limited you in these critical moments.

This program has been informed by the work of a number of masters. These include: Chris Argyris with his ground breaking work on non discussables, Arnie Mindell with his application of field theory to group conflict, and David Bohm who pioneered our understanding of group dialogue and its transformational power.

Participants will learn how to:

  1. Develop a deepened awareness of your limiting assumptions in relation to facilitation and how they create a lack of resources for you.
  2. Apply specific strategies to engage with groups when you sense a difficult or stressful moment is near.
  3. Apply a thorough template which will enable you to engage in your own reflective debrief of each facilitated session.
  4. Practice and apply some novel group processes which are suitable for groups when tension or conflict emerges.

What clients have said so far about this program:

“For anyone who is a skilled facilitator but encounter challenging group dynamics that can’t be easily resolved with simple techniques – I would recommend this advanced facilitation program. Paul was able to provide insights on what happens below the surface in groups when they get stuck and how as a facilitator you can help the group to see what is happening and move forward productively.”
